AFL Supplements
Australian Rules Football is a dynamic game that requires a high level of cardiovascular fitness with good flexibility and strength.
Training and supplementation are often dictated by an individual's genes. For example, smaller players must focus on âbulking' and strength, while larger, endomorphic players are more concerned about weight maintenance and fitness.
For most players of a typical build, 80% of their time will be dedicated to fitness and skills training, with 20% strength-based.
While strength is an important factor, explosiveness and reaction timing are of greater concern, so players will often focus on âpowerâ rather than typical strength training.
Cardiovascular training is generally a mix of HIIT (high-intensity drills) and long steady-state cardio, which is an important component considering the length of games. While training and competition are lengthy, with sessions built around 30-minute âquarters,â players have ample opportunity to refuel and replenish their energy needs.
Pre Workout 101 provides pre-game energy and mental focus. To refuel during games, the players use BCAA Recovery for fast-tracked muscle repair and Electrolyte Plus to replenish what has been lost through sweat.
HASTA Whey Protein Isolate is the go-to protein powder for post-game nutrition. Itâs fast-acting and great for supporting muscle growth and development as it quickly reaches the muscles.
