Learn more about Hugh, in his own words!
Hi, I'm Hugh Greenwood!
I'm a proud Tasmanian, and an elite cross code athlete.
Excelling at basketball and AFL at a young age, I was offered Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) scholarships for both. My love of travel meant basketball won, and I represented Australia in underage tournaments on a global stage.
I received a scholarship to the University of New Mexico in the United States, and completed four years, earning a Psychology degree at the same time.
I came close to my dream of making the NBA, with several team workouts. It didn't eventuate, but after three weeks of talks and chasing with AFL teams, I signed with the Adelaide Crows.
I loved my time at the Crows, and have since played with the Gold Coast Suns. I was a midfielder with North Melbourne, retiring from the AFL at the end of the 2024 season having played 121 games overall.
I lost my mother Andree to breast cancer, and now share the same passion for Breast Cancer awareness. I founded the "Pink Pack", a non-profit organisation that raised close to $100,000 (USD) for the University of New Mexico Cancer Centre, and I now work alongside the Breast Cancer Network Australia as an AFL Ambassador.

Here are some of the Bulk Products I love...
BCAA Recovery
Why I love it: Playing AFL is incredibly demanding, so we as players spend most of our time finding extra ways to recover and best prepare ourselves for our next game. Bulk Nutrients' BCAA Recovery is another simple yet effective way of doing just that. Not only does it assist with hydrating, but BCAA's are shown to help in reducing soreness and recovery time, as well as many other positive health benefits.
How I use it: I often have it with dinner as a substitute for water or soft drink, or I have it in the car on the way home from training.
HASTA Whey Protein Isolate
Why I love it: As an athlete, you're often pushing your body to breaking point both in training and in the weight room. So in order to do that day in, day out, I need to make sure my muscles are recovering and best prepared to do it all over again. With this WPI being HASTA tested I know it's safe for me to take and I know it's going to give my muscles the best chance to recover and not let me down on game day. Plus, it tastes delicious!
How I use it: Because both the vanilla and chocolate flavours taste so good I find myself putting it in anything and everything. Smoothies are a must, and a protein shake before bed never goes down badly.
My Approach to Nutrition
I've never been a big eater and the feedback from nutritionists has always been that I need to eat more to fuel my body. Which is why I love Bulk Nutrients, because their products are proven to work and taste fantastic, so they have been an excellent way to fill important gaps in my diet.
However, I'll be the first to admit I love some cheeky cheat meals - more often than not!
