Australian Boomer, Olympian and NBL Basketballer, meet Nathan!
Nathan Sobey is a basketballer from Victoria with a very impressive resume.
Growing up in regional Victoria, Nathan had a passion for basketball from a very young age that's taken him to college in America and the NBL, as well as representing his country as part of the Boomers national basketball team - part of the bronze medal winning team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Off the court, he is a husband and father with a passion for fitness and nutrition - a natural Bulk Nutrients ambassador!
Hi, I'm Nathan.
My name's Nathan Sobey, and I'm an NBL player from Warrnambool in Victoria.
I started playing basketball at the age of 5, and although footy was the main sport where I grew up I had a passion for basketball and I was set on playing in America at a Division One college.
My dream came true and I received a college scholarship at the University of Wyoming, where I was able to develop my game and expose myself to a whole new world of professionalism in the fitness and nutrition industry.
I'm currently a professional basketball player in the National Basketball League (NBL), playing for the South East Melbourne Phoenix.
I am proudly an Australian Boomer (#136) and a 2020 Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist.
I love all things nutrition and I am always finding ways to improve myself in my career and everyday life. I strive to help and encourage others with training, nutrition, and recovery by sharing my personal experiences.

Are there Foods you Avoid? Processed food.
Foods you crave? Pasta
Your go-to Cheat Meal? KFC. It's once in a blue moon, but I love it.
My day on a plate
My meal plan only really changes at dinner so everyday is pretty similar - this is what it would look like.
The only thing that would change is that if I have had a big day on court at training and in the gym I will have pasta that night or the night before knowing I have a big day coming up!
- Breakfast: Protein pancakes (2 eggs, scoop of Bulk Nutrients WPI, Bulk Nutrients Collagen Protein and Creatine and a banana) with blueberries and raspberries on top.
- Lunch: Salad including spinach, capsicum, cucumber and avocado with a big serve of chicken.
- Dinner: Fish, steak or chicken with roasted or steamed sweet potato, carrot and broccoli.
- Before bed meal: Greek yogurt, frozen blueberries and kiqi fruit, with a magnesium and water shake.
Weekly Workout Plan
Pre season looks like this:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: On court training, weights and recovery.
- Wednesday: Mobility session and recovery.
- Saturday and Sunday: Are off from team training and activities, but I usually do some recovery and stretching work over the weekend.
